Matthew 12:35 “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.”
We all have a natural inclination for certain things. Why do we like what we like at the restaurants we go to? We don’t normally sit down and ask ourselves why we favor chicken over pork, we just do. We don’t know why we love certain songs, we just do.
We have talked a lot about habits, patterns, and the outpouring of what is already within coming out and manifesting in our lives. Jesus shows us in Matthew 12 that the good person brings forth good things. This is a harsh verse because what if everything that is coming out of your life is bad? The good thing is that we have been on this daily journey of renewal, and that which is bad is changing and being renewed to God’s Word.
As you change and renew your mind, you start to see the outpouring of that goodness. Your thoughts are in alignment with God’s Word, and your speech follows. Then because your speech has changed, your conversations and relationships start to change. This domino effect is exactly the process Jesus was speaking to and shows us how powerful it is when we renew our minds and change that which flows out of us.
Renewal Thought: You like what you like for a reason. Continue to put God’s thoughts into your daily life and start to see what you like and desire become a reflection of Godliness.
Prayer: Father, I ask that you would change the things I like. Renew the things that are normal to me. I am no longer satisfied with the taste of this world. I long for and love the Bread of Life, the peace of God, and the love of the Holy Spirit. Renew my diet, Lord; change my tastes that I will love all you have for me.
