Isn’t motherhood the hardest thing in the world and the silliest thing and the most frustrating…and just plain glorious, literally all in one breath?
All of us are real moms…trying to figure it out daily.
All of us might not always agree. That’s okay. And, yes, at times we may have different perspectives or come from different backgrounds or be at different stages of the motherhood journey. That’s okay too. In fact, we believe that is part of the beauty of motherhood.
Because, here’s the thing: all of us want to strip away things that keep us apart and focus on the truths that bring us together. All of us are moms who love our kids. All of us are doing the best we can. And, we need each other to grow.
Moms need other moms. Younger moms need older moms. Older moms need younger moms.
Whether you have one kid or ten kids, work full time or stay home, love every second of your motherhood journey or feel like at the end of your rope, one fact remains: You don’t have to go through it alone.
Let’s laugh, encourage and share.
Let’s make real connections with each other.
Welcome to AllMomDoes!
Being a mom has brought out the best in me, and at times the worst in me. But each time I see love reflected back at me in my little boys’ eyes, I’m reminded that it's all worth it.
Once upon a time, there was a handsome and ambitious boy who asked a grateful and ambitious girl to marry him, to travel the world, to dream up business ideas. They would live in New York City or Washington, DC, in a cool, modern condo and they would put off having kids for a long, long time.
As in, to probably not have kids. Or maybe just one. But not for a long, long, long time.
And so it went. Until fifteen months into that yuppie narrative of a marriage, until that handsome boy and that grateful girl’s first baby made her entrance into the world, into the arms of her very surprised parents.
That baby was followed a few years later by another baby. And then another. And then another. All the way up to a total number of eight.
This life makes me tired. (Apparently, to the point of aging me 11 years.) This life also makes me happy, challenged, stressed and closer to Jesus than I have ever been. I’m Stephanie and I am a real mom. I plan on bringing honesty, laughter as well as tips and tricks. I don’t know it all nor do I pretend to. That is why I am excited we are doing this together!
Instead of sitting in a tastefully decorated office while I write to you all, I am in my favorite recliner with a rather hideous embroidered bird pillow on my lap for a desk. I am typing this on a laptop my husband bought on Craigslist. I’m wearing a “past it’s prime” nightgown with pink roses on it, I have an awful respiratory flu and haven’t taken a shower in two days. This is as real as it gets!
Around here you’ll find a bit of everything from me - reflections on life, stories from my home, easy weeknight recipes, money management tips. I have a particular heart for helping moms in the workforce to find their unique balance, live intentionally, hold on to their joy, and conquer the craziness that can come in this busy season of life.
No matter our circumstances, I want us all to feel like we are doing motherhood well.
