I’m not very good at planting gardens or keeping plants alive. However, my husband and I thought it would be fun to try plant a garden so our son could watch things grow. Last year was the first year we did it. Our peas and beans did great. Our carrots…not so much!
This year we decided to plant another garden and I looked online for the fastest, easiest way possible. We found plans for a cinder block garden. It was so much fun and so easy I just had to share.
First, we put all the cinder blocks in the shape we wanted the garden to be. The more cinder blocks you buy the bigger your garden can be. We started small.
Then, we layered a bunch of dirt inside the middle of our cinder blocks. We also put some dirt inside the front cinder block holes. You could put dirt around the entire perimeter if you’d like. We ran out of dirt and didn’t want to go buy more so we stopped at the front blocks.
After our dirt was in, I had my son help plant the veggies. We mostly got seeds except for the strawberry plants and tomato plants. We did a row of cucmbers, beans and peas. I’ll be honest, we didn’t really follow the back of the seed package and spacing very well since my son started throwing seeds around. We’ll see how they grow!
So, there it is. Our cinder block garden. So far so good. My son has the job of helping me water the flowers and he takes great pride in watching things grow since he helped me plant. They might not all be a success but it’s still fun to try!
