What I love about blogging is that it’s real. It’s real people writing about real things. It’s honest and it’s life and it’s personal and that’s what makes it different than other random articles out there on the internet.
And since that’s the case, here’s where I am right now. Honestly, it’s not where I want to be.
I used to cook for my family every day. In fact, I even blogged regularly about cooking healthfully and frugally for my family while I was working full-time. But I’ve found now that I work part-time, my time management and productivity have dropped off dramatically. Evenings used to have a clearly defined ‘beginning’ – the moment I got home from work. Now, on days when I’m home, the afternoon melds slowly into the early evening and before I know it, it’s dinner time and nothing is on the table.
I don’t know if it’s been the fun-filled summer months or last spring’s move or just my inability to force myself back into a routine, but I’m going to be honest – I haven’t liked what I’ve fallen into. I’m ashamed of my cart in the grocery store full of processed, convenient, and unhealthy choices, the fast-food bags that fill up my garbage can, and, quite frankly, the number of wine bottles that occupy my recycle bin.
I’m ready for a hard re-set. That’s what I’m doing this September.
For the month I’m going to prioritize cooking regularly and healthfully for my family. And I’m going to do that by calling on my accountability partners (that’s you). Every week I’m going to let you peek into my home with a summary post of what I’ve cooked for my family, with pictures and recipe links and an honest look at the amount of time it took. I’m calling it ‘A Month of Meals,’ and my first post will come on September 8th.
But I’m not looking to do this alone. Who wants to do a September re-set with me? I’ve chosen this particular topic as my re-set because it’s something that’s been weighing heavy on my heart. But that doesn’t mean it’s the same for you. Your re-set can be anything you want to improve, but you can only choose one.
Do you want to cook more often?
Stay on a budget?
Make your bed every day?
Exercise more consistently?
Demonstrate more patience with your kids?
Pack lunches more often?
Compliment your husband daily?
Get dressed and fully put-together a few more days each week?
Plan more fun outings with your family?
Clean your bathroom on a more consistent schedule?
Start being on time more often?
Whatever it is, give it a 30-day try. This September re-set is not about perfection. It’s not about doing EVERYTHING right. It’s not even about doing the thing that you choose 100% of the time.
But it’s about intentionality, commitment, and growth. The time to start is now, and I’m going to be sharing my honest journey with you.
Won’t you do it with me?
What are YOU hoping to re-set this September?
Update: See what I ate during Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, and Week 4.
