Recently, we reached out to you moms on our Facebook page about your favorite methods for soothing your little one’s gums! With the recent removal of popular homeopathic teething tablets from store shelves, we wanted to see what you all do in the midst of the trying teething season.
We got some awesome responses, with ideas ranging from tried-and-true to unique (and absolutely worth a try!) so hopefully, if you’re a momma in the throes of wakeful nights, sore gums, and a baby who wants to chew on positively EVERYTHING, you can find something that helps here!
‘Wet a wash rag, toss it in the freezer after wringing it for like 15 minutes and let the babe chew.’
‘I used the old fashioned teething rings that you freeze. I had a bunch of them so that I could keep some in the freezer at all times.’
‘A cold wash cloth for chewing on. Loads of cuddles and my daughter nursed like crazy when teeth were coming in.’
‘Frozen Eggo waffles.’
‘I rub my son’s gums with my fingers when he’s really fussy about it. When he’s inconsolable we do Tylenol but we do that very rarely. He has a mesh teether that he loves. And lots of prayer.‘
‘I’ve heard great things about punkin butt oil. I plan on using that and/or one of those amber necklaces.’
‘Children’s Tylenol was the only thing that worked for my daughter. My doctor okayed it.’
‘Frozen wash cloth. In 1994 I guess it was still acceptable to rub their gums with gin. ( I may have grabbed my daughter from the man that claimed to be a pediatrician and ran out!)‘
‘I used a teething ring and sometimes ripe fresh tomatoes.’
‘Cold, peeled carrot out of the fridge to chew on.’
Thank you ladies for your awesome ideas! And for the mom in the midst of it, hopefully something here will help you and bring you some peace and your sweet one some comfort!
