Raise your hand if you thought we would be done with this pandemic by now?! My hand is certainly in the air. As another holiday approaches, it’s hard not to think about how different it would be if we were living our “normal” day to day lives. But in a weird way, having the restrictions that we do, has made me look at this Valentine’s Day as a unique challenge. It has forced me to kick up my creative juices and figure out how to make a memorable Valentine’s Day at home! Here are a few ideas I have to make the day special and unique.

A heart shaped dinner to remember: Is it just me or is everything in the shape of a heart just better?! Papa Murphy’s has a “Heartbaker ®” pizza that is both festive and delicious! Plus, just being able to cook it at home is a major bonus. It’s like giving yourself or your loved one a gift….the gift of not cooking or doing dishes.
Everything chocolate for dessert: Chocolate just screams valentine’s Day! So why not dip everything in it? A chocolate fondue dessert is a fun way to celebrate and let everyone have what they want. The possibilities are endless, strawberries, marshmallows, pretzels, raspberries, rice Krispies treats, cookies, the list goes on and on!
Decorate your space: Turn your house into a romantic oasis with some homemade décor! Chances are you already have most of what you need! A few things you might have include candles, construction paper hearts, red and/or pink streamers, and flowers. One of my favorite things to do for birthdays and holidays is to write special notes to my husband in chalk pen on the bathroom mirror. It’s such an easy way to surprise someone you love first thing in the morning and it easily washes off with water or glass cleaner.
Take a walk down memory lane: Anyone else a photo hoarder?! I just looked on my phone and I currently have 5,266 photos saved. A fun Valentine’s Day activity for any couple/family would be to put a photo book together with photos from the past year…even if most photos this year were taken in sweatpants.
Share the love: Valentine’s Day isn’t just for couples. It’s important to remind your friends and family how much you love them too. A fun way you can share the love is to spend part of Valentine’s day writing cards and letters to your friends and family. Let love be extended beyond Valentine’s day.
Who knows maybe this Valentine’s Day will be the best one yet!
