I’ve noticed something about this time of year: the pressure isn’t usually just in our calendars. It’s in our hearts. We want everything to be meaningful. We want the holidays to be special. We want to be present for the people we love. And somewhere along the way, we can start believing it all depends on us.
But God’s invitation is different.
Jesus never asked us to carry every burden perfectly. He simply invites us to come to Him. When our schedules are packed and our minds are racing, He offers rest that isn’t dependent on having everything checked off the to-do list. His peace meets us right in the middle of the laundry piles, carpool lines, grocery runs, and holiday preparations.
Maybe this week, instead of focusing on everything left to do, take a moment to notice what God is already doing. The laughter around the dinner table. The child who still reaches for your hand. The friend who checks in. The quiet reminder that God’s faithfulness hasn’t changed, even in a busy season.
November is often a month of gratitude, but gratitude isn’t about pretending life is perfect. It’s about recognizing God’s presence in the middle of real life. And sometimes the most meaningful thankfulness comes from seeing His goodness in ordinary moments.
So, Mom, if you’re feeling stretched thin this week, take a deep breath. You don’t have to do everything perfectly. God’s grace is sufficient for today, and tomorrow’s worries can wait until tomorrow.
The holiday season will come and go. The errands will eventually get done. But God’s love remains steady through it all.
And that is something worth holding onto.
Reflection Question:
What is one small blessing you’ve noticed today that reminded you God is with you?
