On sunny afternoons in October when my kids and I are driving home from my son’s elementary school, we pass by the most beautiful tree. I probably say that about nearly every tree this time of year and feel genuinely excited as the leaves begin change, the cool and crisp mornings roll in, and you can just feel nature getting ready to take its final bow before the frost arrives. Yes, that beautiful tree we pass by every day might seem ordinary. It’s just a sweet little maple tree nestled between some evergreens, but when the fading sun shines on its changing leaves it looks like a gorgeous, yellow flame standing out among the shades of green. We call it the “glowing tree” and it brings us so much joy to catch a glimpse of it when the sun makes those leaves glow. As more and more of them fall to the ground, I’m already looking forward to seeing those glorious yellow leaves shining in the sun again next year.
There are endless possibilities when it comes to fall crafts and many of them involve leaves (of course!) As those last leaves hold on and we get deeper into fall, a really fun way to enjoy the changing season is with this fall leaf button craft! It’s great for all ages and your kids can really make it their own. I hope these little button trees bring some color and fun into your home this fall!
What you need:
- Assorted buttons (any color combination works and you can mix up the sizes)
- Tacky glue
- Canvas boards or thick, white paper
- Brown paint for the tree trunk (brown markers work, too!)
