God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. Psalm 46:5
Phenomenal women. May we be them; may we raise them.
March is defiantly our month ad Moms. International Women’s Day is celebrated worldwide on March 08. And March is also Women’s History Month. Celebrated every year in the United States in the month of March in recognition of the amazing contributions of women through out history and contemporary times as well.
This year, International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month is extra special for me as I approach this season thinking about our 9-year-old daughter Daniella. For her to see Mummy celebrated in the limelight as an award recipient for the Times of Canada Excellence in Arts & Culture Award, as well as being nominated for the YWCA Women of Distinction Award in the category of Arts, Culture and Design sets a great example for her.

It shows her that she can achieve whatever she sets her mind to. She can do hard things and excel at them. Her dreams are valid. She is surrounded by strong women who are changing lives and making the world a better place by pursuing their passions and uplifting communities. The same goes for our 7-year-old son Elijah. We are reshaping the way future generations see and appreciate women’s worth and purpose. It is especially validating as a Canadian of Ugandan heritage to be able to stand out from the crowd and show that my cultural background and heritage is not a limitation but an advantage. It is part of what makes me unique. I bring a unique, special and much needed view and way of thinking to the table. When the younger generation sees people that look like them and have the same cultural background they do being recognized and celebrated for their significant contributions to society, it is very validating. Its shows them that their dreams are valid. They can achieve what they desire and be who they aspire to be. No dream is too far fetched or lofty. Nothing is out of range or out of reach for them as well.

This is very important for me. Representation matters! Is what drives me and pushes me along when the going gets tough and when things are hard. I am paving the way for future generations of Canadians of African descent. Especially women and girls. They must know that their voices matter, their ideas are needed, their in put is desired and they are valued, seen and appreciated. They are phenomenal!
Throughout the month of March, and the entire year as well, encourage a woman around you. Let it be something you are intentional about. Whether it is a girl. young woman, middle aged or older woman. Be an avenue of women empowerment today. Validate, recognize and celebrate the amazing women God has placed in your life.
And if you find yourself in a position of authority or influence, be the change you desire to see in the world. Allow yourself to be used as a conduit of women empowerment. Empowerment means giving women space, no barriers to entry, freedom and equal access to opportunity. Belief, validation and unbiased celebration of women and their achievements.
Happy International Women’s Day and Happy Women’s History Month to all the phenomenal women that are a part of and subscribe to AllMomDoes. You are seen, appreciated and celebrated. Your strength, beauty, resilience and quiet diligence inspire so many around you. Keep being the incredible woman you are!
Your adornment must not be merely external—with interweaving and elaborate knotting of the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or [being superficially preoccupied with] dressing in expensive clothes; but let it be [the inner beauty of] the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality and unfading charm of a gentle and peaceful spirit, [one that is calm and self-controlled, not overanxious, but serene and spiritually mature] which is very precious in the sight of God. 1Peter 3:3-4
