This year I have received the boldness to step out of my comfort zone on many occasions. For the first time since we joined 3 years ago, I agreed to tutor classes on our homeschool community days. I will be the first to admit that it was nerve-racking. So, I did the best thing I know to do in such situations, and I soaked myself in prayer. I not only prayed for myself but asked any and everyone around me to cover me in prayer as well.
You’ve heard people say do it afraid but the Holy Spirit reminded me of the word of God in 2 Timothy 1:7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control].
This means drawing strength from God in prayer by faith. Receiving God’s peace about scary situations resulting in a calm countenance and balanced mind. Ater praying, I made up my mind to receive answers to my prayer by faith and just stepped out in faith, believing that the God that I pray to is faithful. I was excited to see the manifestation of the answers to prayer and boy did He answer my prayers and the prayers of everyone that I had called on to join me in prayer. My tutoring classes went so well, the students were receptive and very well behaved, the parents were helpful and encouraging and even surprised that this was my first time because it seemed so effortless. What they did not know was that I had invested hours in prayer and this to me was an encouragement and evidence that prayer actually does work! You will see the physical manifestation of the prayers that you pray in secret. God will surprise you by doing far more than you even prayed for because that is what He says in His word. Now all glory to God, Who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Ephesians 3:20
I say all this to encourage you if you are faced with something that seems overwhelming or scary. Bring it to God in prayer, ask Him for divine strength and wisdom. He will exceed your expectations just as He has promised in His word and then step out in faith. The more you do this the more your faith will grow. The more you choose to involve God and bring Him to the center of it the more you realize how faithful He is and this gives you the strength and boldness to reach out to do even harder because things with God in your corner you’ve got it.
Another way of building up your strength and faith is leaning on the godly friends God has placed in your life. We this example when Daniel called on his friends to pray with Him to God for divine intervention.
Daniel asked his friends to pray to the God of heaven that God would be kind to them and help them understand this secret. Then Daniel and his friends would not be killed with the other wise men of Babylon. During the night, God explained the secret to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven. He said, “Praise God’s name forever and ever! Power and wisdom belong to him. Daniel 2:18-20
The Bible teaches us that when you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you have been made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Proverbs 28:1 says that the godly are as bold as lions. Other Bible translations say the righteous are as bold as lions. Being in Christ Jesus is what makes us righteous and therefore bold. Having tapped into God’s grace to step out in boldness this year, I have a better understanding of this scripture. It is not necessarily my actions that are making me bold but my understanding that I am in Christ. That is what gives me boldness, just like the Bible says I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. This boldness and the strength is not in myself but rather it is in Christ who strengthens me. The more we understand the limitless wisdom and power of Christ at work in us, accepting it by faith; the bolder we get.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
