She was distraught. She’s a friend I have known since birth, but haven’t always kept in touch with. I remember being surprised that she called me to discuss her current situation and equally touched that she was seeking my advice.
She was struggling with a pregnancy she hadn’t planned. She wasn’t sure what she should do.
Who am I to weigh in on such an importance decision? Isn’t that what we think most of the time? Who am I? Why did she call me?
At the time I simply reminded her that a miracle was growing inside her; that I believe God doesn’t make mistakes. I told her perhaps what she perceived as being a disaster, would actually be a blessing.
I got a phone call from her again last night. She told me the conversation we had in her time of need spoke deeply to heart. She is now the mommy of a thriving and very happy 10-month old.
Sometimes I feel so insignificant in this world, but that phone call reminded me I matter. You never know when someone is going to call you and need the exact words and encouragement you have to offer. Keep your eyes open, because God will put these people in your path when you least expect it.
